Forbion, a company that invests in innovative healthcare start-ups, felt increasingly constrained in its existing premises. Growth is always good news of course, but the current offices clearly needed to be extended. As it happens, Forbion is a neighbour of ours, so they asked us to tackle this project for them. A home game for our project team!
Forbion’s team was located on the second floor at the time, a space measuring approximately 500 m2. We provided the extra space they needed by adding the first floor, a further 500 m2, and building a connecting staircase between the two levels. The design carefully considered optimal routing through the office; the stairs in particular have become a real eye-catcher due to their central position.
By fitting out the first floor as a space for meetings, flex-working and receiving visitors, we concentrated all the office hustle and bustle in one area. The second floor has been designed as a quiet working environment for tasks that require concentration and focus. The internal staircase, primarily made of glass, provides an open and transparent connection. Even though the two floors each have their own function, they seamlessly flow into each other in terms of their look-and-feel.
